My name is Gretchen. I'd love to say that I'm a professional writer, but I'm not (yet!). I do hold a B.A. in literature/creative writing, though. Right now, I'm working on my Masters in Library & Information Science. Ideally, I want to be a children's librarian and write on the side. I do have some professional experience with web and promotions writing too.
I've been writing for almost my entire life. Seriously! Before I could put pencil to paper, I had a habit of dictating stories to my mom and having her write them down. From then on, I never stopped. Until computers took over my life, I filled notebook after notebook with stories and poetry. Now I just fill up my hard drive with those things ;)
I enjoy writing poetry, but prose is my favorite. Longer prose especially. I've actually been working on and off on a different novel since I was a sophomore in college, but that one's taken a backseat for now. Like We're a Happy Family, it also revolves around music.
What else am I interested in? As you can probably tell, I'm a huge music fan. My favorite genre is rock, and I tend to gravitate towards the harder stuff. I'm also a huge geek and enjoy relatively geeky things, such as playing around with computers and reading about random things. I'm a big sports fan too and actively watch baseball, ice hockey, and football. Ask me about any of my favorite teams, and I'll never stop talking. Lately, I've developed an interest in cars too. Shopping always has been and always will be one of my favorite activities.
